Your Conscience Matters

This course isn’t just about learning; it’s about transformation. Theology of Story II provides tools to think critically about conscience, dive deep into its complexities, and recognize its profound connection to daily life.

The impact on story work

How does God’s Word apply to an inner story? How does that shape our actions? By the end of this journey, you’ll have a rich, conceptual understanding of the pivotal role of a “Conscience.”

Transforming Our Inner Voice

Theology of Story II will help us recognize how our consciences may have been misguided by other voices, which influences our stories. Our goal is to discover together how we can enrich the conscience as a welcome and wise presence.

If you’re a care-provider, you already know the importance of story work. How is conscience connected? Are you curious about how to respond to our conscience? Theology of Story II: Your Conscience Matters provides a way forward.

Our experienced instructors, Melissa Affolter and Ann Maree Goudzwaard have developed a comprehensive course that will increase familiarity with concepts and terminology to help you build your biblical model of crisis care for one-another ministry.

Questions Answered

What is Conscience?

Conscience is an inner sense that guides our understanding of right and wrong, often influenced by moral and ethical principles. It acts as an internal compass, helping us navigate complex decisions by aligning our actions with our beliefs and values. Conscience, shaped by factors such as cultural background, Christian commitment, and personal experiences, plays a crucial role in self-reflection, accountability, and moral integrity. When storytelling, our conscience influences how we interpret and present our stories. Our desire is to reflect authentically and honestly when reflecting on pivotal moments.

Additionally, going against one’s conscience produces moral dilemma, adding depth and complexity to our narratives.
